Community briefs: Heartland Festival

The Heartland Festival will take place this weekend at Double T Acres, 22368 W. Seond Ave., Stevinson, Calif. Admission is $25 for adults, $10 for children 5-12 and children 4 or younger are free. Camping is $10 per person older than 12.

Saturday, August 14, 5-11 p.m., will offer bluegrass music, booths, kids activities, craft classes, organic dinner, dancing, a disc jockey, part 1 of a draft horse driving class, bingo and children's storytelling.

Sunday, August 15, 6-11 a.m., will offer a sunrise farm tour, breakfast, a calf-feeding tour, part 2 of a draft horse driving class, kids activites and craft classes.

Golden Age Club

The Los Banos Golden Age Club Has planned a barbecue spare-ribs dinner for Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Fairgrounds Park's Exhibit Hall, 403 F St. No-host cocktails will be offered from 4:30-7:30 p.m. and the dinner starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for members and $9 for nonmembers, and can be purchased from the office in the Miller & Lux building, 830 Sixth St.

Scholarship fundraiser

First Baptist Church of Los Banos is asking members of the public to attend a gospel choir workshop next Wednesday-Friday at 6 p.m. in preparation for and annual concert of Saturday. There is a cost of $10 per person to participate. The proceeds are going toward the G.B. Blackmon II Scholarship Fund. Saturday the third annual Rev. G.B. Blackmon II Scholarship Fund Gospel Concert will be held free of charge at Bethel Community Church, 415 I St. For more information contact the Rev. Bruce Gaillard at 408-476-8833.

Back 2 School Bash

Crossroads Church of Los Banos is hosting Back 2 School Bash on Friday, Aug. 20. The Los Banos High School jazz band and dance team will showcase their talent, as well as other area bands.
