Tiger Prowl signals an end to summer
Students receive schedules, get ready for start of school

Los Banos High School students made an early appearance on campus Thursday to get a first look at their schedules and take care of other business.
Tiger Prowl is Los Banos High School's two-day orientation in which students can get their schedules, take ID pictures, fill out paperwork and sign up for clubs.
Dan Martin, the school's principal, said Tiger Prowl allows students to get a peek at their schedules and get a jump on making any necessary changes.
"If there's a problem with their schedules, it gives us a week to fix them," Martin said.
Tiger Prowl attendance is not mandatory, Martin said, but roughly 80 percent of the students show up.
"We get about 80 percent, because they want their schedule," Martin said. "They want to know what classes they have."
Thursday was designated for seniors and freshmen, while today will be for sophomores and juniors.
Martin said Thursday started well, and he expected Tiger Prowl to reach the 80-percent average of the past three years.
Some of the clubs and teams present to promote themselves included wrestling, cross country, Gay-Straight Alliance and the Future Farmers of America.
Antoinette Machado, a junior and an officer for FFA, was present to promote the FFA, which offers classes and conferences for students.
Machado said students approached her booth during Tiger Prowl with questions, particularly about the FFA's leadership conference.
School starts Aug. 16.
