Another game, another nailbiter for the Los Banos National 11-year-old All-Star team July 8.

This one, a 6-5 loss in front of a rowdy crowd in Turlock for the District 10 Area 2 championship, didn't go Los Banos' way.

"It was a great ride," said coach Dave Gould, who stepped into that position while coach Gary Silva was away at his daughter's cheerleading tournament. "The kids had a great time, the coaches had a great time, the parents had a great time."

Los Banos took the lead in the first inning on a Steven Demanski double that scored James Bostick and Kevin Spencer. Jake Lonetree also scored that inning.

Turlock came roaring back to take a 5-3 lead by the fourth, where Joshua Gould evened up the see-saw game with a double, scoring Bostick and Lonetree.

With the score tied at 5 in the fifth, Turlock scored the go-ahead run on an error.

Turlock advanced to the District 10 championship.

"Tremendous all-star year," Gould said. "Every player on that team showed heart, and everybody contributed in one way or another."
