Tigers tennis squad ready, set for CCC
ENTERPRISE STAFF REPORT
The Los Baños High boys varsity tennis team opened up Central California Conference play on Thursday against Merced High.
This 2010, the Tigers will be aiming to contend during their last year in the CCC.
ET Parreira is the Tigers' returning No. 1 singles player. Los Baños has six returning players on the varsity squad.
"The rest of my team is new," Los Baños head coach Lynn Barcellos said. "I kept 20 guys this year, and a lot of them are young. I have a lot of freshman and sophomore right now."
According to coach Barcellos, Pitman High should be the team to beat in conference this year, considering it didn't really lose anybody from last year's playoff-contending ball club.
Piero Pereda will be another key returner back at the No. 2. slot, while George Correa and Alex Salazar round out the list of returning players with varsity experience.
Blas Rodriguez and Nathan Nelson will be the only doubles players with varsity experience.
Cory and Bryce Purser are also returning from last year.
