Sophomore girls win in CCC

TURLOCK -- The Los Baños High girls sophomore basketball team closed out its 2009-10 season on Feb. 18 on the road against Pitman High of Turock, who the Tigers defeated 48-26 to capture the Central California Conference championship.

"We won a share of it from what I know," Los Baños head sophomore coach Saul Mejia said. "It means a lot.

"The season started in early April with our summer league. At first, we struggled and got beat by some pretty good teams.

"But I knew I was going to get a good bunch of freshman, and they showed the poise and desire to win something. All the hard work paid off."
