Twin Tigers Kung Fu students aiming at Grand Invitational
ENTERPRISE STAFF REPORT /
The students of the Twin Tigers' Kung Fu studio in Los Baños are headed down the winners' road to the National Black Belt League Super Grands.
Last month 10 students competed in the AMAPA kick-off tournament and in February competed in the Delta Smack Down, where they also did very well.
"More importantly," Si Fu Tiffany Gardere said. "Is that they are in a competition for not only the divisional belts but also what every martial artist waits for every year -- an invitation from the NBL saying you made it to the Super Grands."
The Super Grands is a five-day tournament that starts on Dec. 26 and ends on Jan. 1.
"The Super Grands are not like all the other tournaments we go compete in during the season," said Si Fu Tiffany Gardere, an instructor at Twin Tigers. "The only way you can get into this tournament is to be invited.
"It's where the best martial artist from all around the World compete under one roof, and the only way to get invited is to win first place in your division."
Twin Tigers Kung Fu has been invited every year for the past seven years.
The Super Grands have only been held in California once in the last 20 years, but this year it will be held in Sacramento.
A total of 12 Twin Tigers students are expected to receive invitations to this prestigious martial arts tournament.
