OLF Spring Gala
Our Lady of Fatima School Parents Club kicks off the 30th annual Spring Gala and Auction on March 13. Cocktails and the silent auction starts at 5:30 p.m., dinner and live auction at 7:30 p.m., at the school grounds, 1625 Center Ave. This year's theme, Glitz and Glam Hollywood Style, will be a fun and elegant evening inside a gorgeous tent with delicious food, drinks and great items for auction. Tiny Princess
Applications for the annual Merced County Spring Fair Tiny Princess contest will be available March 8. Applications will be available at the Los Baños Fairgrounds in the office, 403 F St. The Tiny Princess contest is open to all girls ages 5 years old and in kindergarten as of Jan. 1 and must be no older than 8 years old as of April 28. Registration is limited to the first 12 entries. Pageant rehearsals will begin the week of March 15. For more information please contact the fair office at 826-5166.
NAACP Job Fair
The NAACP and the Census 2010 is hosting a community healthcare and job fair on March 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hotel de Oro, 13070 S. Hwy 33 in Santa Nella. Census jobs are available at temporary and part time levels, ranging in $14.50 to $25.50 per hour with mileage reimbursement and working near home capabilities. Cancer benefit event
The family of Ray Sierra is hosting a cancer benefit dinner and dance for long-time Los Baños resident Ray Sierra. The event will be held at the Elks Lodge, 565 E St., March 6 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Attendees are asked to contribute $25 per person in advance, or $30 at the door. Food distribution
The Los Baños branch of the Merced County Food Bank has recently moved its location to the corner of I and L streets, behind New Beginnings Church. Programs offered to the community are the senior brown bag program and USDA programs. Senior distributions are available the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The USDA program is available the first Wednesday of the month. For more information contact Sharon at 392-6077.
Seniors go green
United Way, PG&E and Merced County are working together to provide a complimentary breakfast for seniors in exchange for a lesson on going 'green.' The event takes place March 17 at 9 a.m. at the Los Baños Fairgrounds in the exhibit hall. The breakfast is being prepared by the Los Baños Volunteer Fire Department. Seating is limited to 300 guests. Registration forms can be picked up from the Miller & Lux Building, and are due by March 12.
