Community briefs: Lorena Falasco School hosts blood drive
Lorena Falasco Elementary School has planned to host a blood drive on Jan. 13 to honor Dos Palos' late Lia Brady, who died Dec. 10 after a two and a half year battle with cancer. The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the school. The event was planned prior to Lia's passing, and family members decided to continue the event for two reasons; one, it is an invaluable way to benefit the many other people in our community who receive blood, and two, many wanted to replenish the Central California Blood Center's blood bank supply after Lia was able to benefit from it so many times. Donorsmust be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, be at least 17 (or 16 with parental consent), bring photo ID and social security number. Remember to eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within four hours of donating. Donors can give blood every eight weeks. There is no upper age limit, so seniors are encouraged to donate.
Auditions
Los Baños Ministries will be partnering with San Jose's Be That Kid Productions to host auditions for a local TV miniseries production, "Kid Revolution." Auditions are Jan. 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for ages 4-12 held at the College Green Park building at 1815 Scripps Ave. Performers ages 13 and older may audition from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Albans Anglican Church located at 401 W. L St. The production is for all ages from 4 years old through adult age. Auditions are for actors, singers, dancers and musicians. Please bring completed application, a photo, CD with music (applicable if you will sing or dance). Rigorous rehearsal schedules to follow for selected performers. An application and additional information can be obtained by contacting Elvira Grimes at 209-489-4969.

CAHSEE schedule
Los Baños High School will administer the California High School Exit Exam on Feb. 2 and 3.

Alumni from the LBHS class of 2008 and 2009 who have not passed the CAHSEE are also encouraged to contact the school for additional information about how they can take the exam during this time.
CAHSEE intensive interventions currently in place are enhanced with the beginning of free weekly CAHSEE academies. CAHSEE academies will take place at the high school on the following Saturdays: Jan. 16, Jan. 23, and Jan. 30, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Current juniors and seniors needing to pass the exam are being enrolled by their grade level teams, and are strongly encouraged not to miss a single academy or day of school. Alumni who have not passed the CAHSEE from the LBHS class of 2008 and 2009 can contact the school to make arrangements for additional support as well.
The high school will be on a regular bell schedule on both CAHSEE testing days; there will be no delayed start time.
