The Los Baños Tigers' 16 and under summer travel softball club stood home on Wednesday to host the Manteca Creed, an 18 and under competitive softball squad which consists of girls from East Union and Clovis high schools.

Los Baños finished with four hits in all, but the Creed eventually hung on for the 6-0 summer-league win.

"They're an 18 and under we put on the schedule to see how we would compete," Los Baños head softball coach Charlie Pikas said. "We lost 6-0, but we played really well for being back playing after a week and a half off."

The Tigers are made up of players from Los Baños High, and two are from Dos Palos High in Halee and Hannah Cole.

Felicia Remula had a bunt-single for the Tigers, who have two more tournaments in the next two weekends before heading to nationals on July 29.

"We cut down on our strikeouts," Pikas said. "We just want to make sure we keep getting better as we go through the summer."

Los Baños also has three other summer softball teams as well, and all four of them will be in action on July 11-12 in Merced.

The Los Baños 12 and under softball team, which is coached by Dave Cardoza -- an assistant baseball coach for Merced College -- has competed in two tournaments so far this season.

The 12 and under group finished third place at a tournament two weeks ago, followed by a third-place finish at this last weekend's competition held at Rainbow Fields.

"We're glad to have (Cardoza) working with the 12 and unders," Pikas added.

The 14 and under team went 5-0 and won a tournament this year, followed by a third-place finish at Rainbow Fields this past weekend.

The 14 and unders lost to the Delta Diamonds on Brentwood by one run, twice.

The 10 and unders will be in action this weekend at Rainbow Fields.
