Morales finishes in second

The 2009 Destruction Derby hosted by the Merced County Spring Fair was indeed 'destructive' on Friday and Saturday nights.

On Friday, Los Baños' Nacho Morales highlighted the local pack after placing second in the consolation heat to Allen Duckworth (Soledad).

Hilmar's Kurtis Van Foeken took third place in back of Duckworth, while Brian Holt of Modesto took first.

Nate Holt (Modesto) took fourth, and won the ward for best appearing car during the first night.

Cathy Reyes (Stockton) won the first heat, N. Holt won the second and Sonny George (Modesto) third.

On the second night, B. Holt was crowned overall champion after winning the first heat and the main event to conclude.

N. Holt won the second heat and Van Foeken won the third heat.
