LB high school alumnus receives doctorate degree

A Los Baños High School alumnus has received a doctorate degree in theoretical mathematics.

Chad Wiley received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, on June 15. He was valedictorian for the 1995 graduating class of Los Baños High School.

He earned his doctorate for his work in the field of topology. His dissertation is titled Nugatory Crossings in Closed 3-Braid Diagrams.

Wiley is currently employed as a professor at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.

He is the son of Larry and Germaine Wiley of Los Baños.
