Commentary: Movie night fundraiser
By Ann McCauley, resident and volunteer community member
The fund raiser to make an Outdoor Movie Night an annual tradition on the Henry Miller Plaza is coming along! To date, we have received at least $2,200.00!! Generous donations have been received from Ann McCauley, K-Mart, Tacos El Grullense, Coldwell Banker Kaljian & Associates, Kagome Inc., Rick's Auto Body, Steve and Janet Rath, O. Ray Sheets, Dwayne K. Chisam, Los Banos Little League, and as of early this week, Food-4-Less. Food-4-Less gave well in excess of $500.00 and please note we also have our first non-profit organization on the donor list!! Some citizens have indicated their plans to contribute. We need your check or money order to reach the goal! YOU can be the next one publicly thanked!!
Giving isn't always about donating in time of disasters or strife, but when we can share our good fortune by giving back to the Community....showing appreciation as a business owner, a non-profit that lives up to its giving spirit, an employee or resident who just wants to do their part in whatever way they can. We all have something to be grateful for living in Los Banos!
There's still time to get a movie scheduled by the 4th of October, but only if the necessary funds to cover ALL costs are received in the next couple weeks!! The target is $7,400.00. A special account has been established for this event and will not be used for any other purpose! Your tax-deductible donation in the form of a check or money order will certainly be appreciated in ANY amount; donations of $100 or more are being recognized in The Los Banos Enterprise and The Paper. All donors will be noted on Channel 96. Please write your check to “City of Los Banos Movie Night” and mail or drop off at the Parks & Rec Dept, 830 Sixth Street, Los Banos CA 93635. If any of you would like to donate your time to assist on the event night, add a note to your check or call Megan at Park & Rec to let her know.
All-around fun is planned for the Movie Night, but details won't be announced until the event becomes a reality. You won’t be disappointed so please contribute towards what is hoped becomes an annual tradition, an event to be held once if not oftener each summer/early autumn in the future years!!
If you have questions, please contact Megan at the Parks & Rec Dept, 827-7034, ext 16. Many thanks again to those who have contributed thus far towards a memorable Community event!!
