I am a retired dairy farmer who has lived in Los Banos all my life on Ward Road in the country, I don't come into town very often. Thank God!
I have only lived in Los Banos for about a year, but I look forward to the newspaper every week because of Diana Ingram's column "Around Town."
The Los Banos Chamber of Commerce and the Los Banos Enterprise thank you for supporting the annual Reader's Choice Awards. This is an evening for our local merchants to be recognized for their outstanding service to our community.

This past Friday was the annual downtown Christmas parade in Los Baños. We decided at our office meeting five days earlier to make this our first year of participation. There was very limited grumbling and fussing during the preparation of our entry at the office. Many of us had to rush to complete the day's assignments and others cancelled or otherwise changed evening plans.
The focus of the mayor and the City Council should be directed towards attracting new industry to the city. At present, the city has no clear vision or identity and needs to find some creative ways to rethink its focus for future development. There should be greater leadership and cooperation at the regional level to attract investment from Silicon Valley. State mandates for utilities to "go green" are creating unique opportunities for the communities smart enough to embrace them. We have ample land and sunlight to make the valley the solar epicenter of the United States. We should send a delegation to Silicon Valley to encourage them to think of us first as a place to invest. It is time to think smarter.
Congressman Cardoza, don't you get tired of lying to the American people? I could remember when there was a time when most of us believed in what you were doing in Congress. Now you just tell us what we want to hear while you are putting a knife in our backs.
