Oil spill on I5 following accident

The driver of an overturned oil transportation truck suffered minor injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital Los Baņos Friday following a 2 p.m. accident on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near the Mercey Springs Road offramp.

The Kenai Drilling truck was transporting industrial lubricating oil.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Kevin Smith deemed the area a hazardous materials spill after the plastic containers spilled their oil in the center divide. Smith estimates that between 500 and 600 gallons of oil was spilled. Kenai Drilling was notified and they are repotedly going to clean up the spill.
