As the first week that candidates could file for public office in Los Baños comes to an end only two people have made official inquiries about entering the upcoming political races as of Thursday.
The filing period began Monday and ends Aug. 8.
According to the Merced County Registrar of Voters office the elections stack up as follows:
Real Estate Broker Caryn Cox and Councilman Mike Villalta have pulled papers to run for mayor. No one has filed to vy for either City Council seat subject to election this year. And the three school board slots remain uncontested.
On the City Council Mayor Tommy Jones, Councilman Joe Sousa and Councilwoman Anna Brooks will have their terms expire this year.
At The Los Baños Unified School District, trustees Colleen Menefee, Jack Vasquez and Mario Gonzalez are up for re-election on Nov. 4. To run for any of the three school board positions candidates must live within the city limits.
Election day will be Nov. 4. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The last day to register to vote is Oct. 20.
