Mayor Tommy Jones and Councilwoman Anna Brooks will hold a town hall meeting Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at New Beginnings Assembly of God, 821 W. L St.

The public is encouraged to attend and ask questions about Los Baños.

"Bottom line it's just to inform more people of what's going on in the city," Jones said.

The meeting is the second in a series that Jones planned for this summer at various churches around town. He said there will be a translator at the event to allow the Spanish speaking community to participate.

At the meeting a Power Point presentation of upcoming city projects will be presented. It will be followed by a question-and-answer period.

Brooks said she's looking forward to speaking with local residents.

"I know when Mayor (Michael) Amabile used to do the parkside chats, the ones I was able to attend, we'd get about 20 people would show up in the mornings (to talk about issues). I'm hoping for that, but with more people," Brooks said. "I'm looking forward to hearing from the people who don't normally contact us."

She said during her presentation she wants to tell the public about the city's recycling program.

Saturday's town hall event may be the last one this summer. Jones said he may try to have one more, but nothing is definite.

Jones' first meeting with the public took place at Bethel Community Church in May. Councilman Joe Sousa participated with Jones at that meeting.

Jones, Brooks and Sousa will all have to run for re-election this year if they want to keep their positions in city government.
