Katie Nelson Scholarship awarded

The Katie Nelson Memorial Scholarship Award was given to several members of the OLF 4-H club that exhibit live stock, during the April meeting.

This award is in honor of Katie Nelson who passed away many years ago when she was 8 years old from heart problems. Katie died before she was able to exhibit her beef steer at the May Day Fair. Her good friend Nisa Gallichio showed the steer for her, and the proceeds she earned from selling the steer were put into the scholarship fund, by Katie's family. The scholarship is worth $300 to each recipient. This year's recipients are: Morgan Hurley, Sarah Lopez, Mackenzie Hurley, Emma Little, Wyatt Cotta, and Sheldon Silva.
