Lunch in the Park

The annual United Way Lunch in the Park will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at Pacheco Park, Seventh Street and Pacheco Boulevard.

Lunch includes tri-tip sandwich, chili and drink.

Cost is $8. Meals can be purchased in advance by calling Sandy Lemas at 826-5648.

Delivery is available.

The United Way raises funds for projects such as Coats for Kids and Freedom Alliances but recently it has been trying a more hands-on approach rather than just handing people a check.

Last year, the United Way of Merced County raised about $2,160 from an estimated 270 meals sold at the event based on bun count.
