In the Bible there is a story Jesus tells of a King who held a wedding banquet for his son. The story can be found in the Gospel according to Matthew, Chapter 22. The heading for this story in my Bible is entitled "Story of the Great Feast." If you read the story, you will find that the people on the "A List," who had been invited to this dinner refused to come. Jesus tells us they were too busy, to attend the banquet for the King's son. These people were friends and relatives of the King, so as you can imagine the King was hurt by their unwillingness celebrate this important occasion with him.

Verse 8-9 of Chapter 22 says, "And he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, and the guests I invited aren't worthy of the honor. Now go out to the corners and invite everyone you see.'"

A few years ago I felt God leading me to stand on the corner of the church property on Sunday mornings and invite everyone I see to church. I will admit it wasn't the easiest thing to do. Staying inside and socializing with those in the building seemed to be a more natural behavior for a pastor. I was afraid of what other people would think. I wondered why I had to do it alone. But I was obedient and "went out."

At first I stood close to the building, for fear I would be considered a little "unusual or weird," waving at people I didn't know as they drove past the church. I felt very uncomfortable as some who drove by tried to avoid making eye contact and others looked confused. Over time people began to wave back and smile, some even honked if I wasn't looking their way. An over time, God was able to move me closer to the street and eventually to the corner of the parking lot. And so every Sunday you will find me standing at the corner of Santa Barbara Street and Mercey Springs Road waving at the cars.

Would you do me a favor? If you happen to drive by our church on this Sunday or any other between the hours of 9 a.m. and 10:40 a.m., please be sure to wave or honk. But better still why not plan stop and come inside. Consider this your special invitation. The vision of our church is to be a place where people can experience the love of God through contact with his people. We aren't the largest church in town or the richest, but we do love the Lord and we want you to know there is room for anyone who wants to meet the Lord.

I would also encourage you to drop me a line at mercysprings@clearwire.net if you are reading this column. If you have a question about a particular subject discussed in the Bible or you just needed prayer, it would be a blessing to know. Along with Peter and John, I have to say, "I don't have any money for you. But I'll be more than happy to share Jesus with you." I hope you will consider this invitation to worship with us this Sunday and may the Lord bless you as you seek His will for your life.
