Brunch with dad on Father's Day at St. John's

St. John's Lutheran Church women will serve a Father's Day Brunch in the Parish Hall, Sunday, after the 9 a.m. worship service. All fathers and those who have fathers are welcome to come to the service of Holy Communion and brunch.

Everyone is invited to a study on the Gospel of John at the St. John's Parish Hall at 7 p.m. Monday.

The St. John's Family Game Night starts at 6:30 p.m., June 20 at the Parish Hall. Bring food to share and be ready for a fun night of games. You can bring a favorite game from home and have others play with you.

Learn Spanish in six weeks

Carole Wynne will be teaching Spanish without the stress of tests this summer at Merced College Los Baños Campus.

The non-credit six-week course will begin June 17 for students who want to learn conversational Spanish. The class meets from 5-7 p.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in building A.

There is no registration fee, students will need to purchase a textbook with a CD. Call Wynne at 827-1493 for more information.

Safety fair planned

Wal-Mart will be holding its annual safety fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 28, at its store, 1575 W. Pacheco Blvd. Various safety activities will be held including fingerprinting.

Senior fair needs support

The 24th annual Salute to Senior Citizens Fair is accepting monetary and gift donations to make this year's fair a success.

Approximately 500 senior citizens are expected to attend the event on Sept. 26 at the Los Baños Fairgrounds. The schedule of events for this year's fair will open with 40-50 exhibit booths and various programs and services available to seniors.

Volunteers are honored, door prizes are given away and a luncheon and bingo game will wrap things up.

Ag club meeting set

Los Baños Community 4-H will hold a meeting, at 7 p.m., Monday in the Henry Miller Elementary School cafeteria, 545 W. L St.

Road closure planned

The Windman Triathlon VIII will be held June 22 at and around Los Baños Creek Reservoir (part of San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area).

This special event will require a temporary road closure and restrict day-use visitor access in the park.

The park's roads will be closed for part of that Sunday to facilitate the triathlon which will include bicycling on the park's and adjacent roadways, running, and swimming in the reservoir.

The swimming event will start at the reservoir's boat launch.

These closures will last from 5:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The boat ramp area and the park roadways will be closed to the general public during this time period.

The triathlon event is sponsored by the Los Baños Enterprise newspaper and is being coordinated by Dr. Adel Dessouky. Contact Dr. Dessouky at (209) 827-4697 for additional event information.

The other two lakes that make up San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area-San Luis Reservoir and O'Neill Forebay-will be unaffected by the event.
