Frosh team ends season with shutout
Los Baños beats Pitman with only one run over the Pride

The Los Baños frosh baseball team concluded its home season with a thrilling 1-0 shutout against the Pitman Pride, Wednesday afternoon.
Hits and runs were very hard to come by for both teams. Tiger starting pitcher Ryan Carmo limited the Pride to just one hit over five innings.
Derrick Velasquez pitched the sixth and seventh innings retiring all six batters he faced, with the help of a catch and throw double play by centerfielder Matt Nunes.
Meanwhile Pitman's John Madden and Angel Rodriguez were just as tough on Los Baños, limiting the Tigers to just four base hits, but Los Baños was able to scratch out an unearned run in the first inning that was the difference in the game.
Zack Brazil lead-off the game with a base hit and advanced to second on an errant pick-off attempt. Brazil advanced to third base on a ground ball out by Velasquez and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Nunes.
That was all the scoring for the tigers and as it turned out the only run scored in the entire game.
Carmo and Velasquez combined to pitch to just 22 hitters, one over the minimum, in completing the shutout.
Los Baños had a great chance to add a run in the fourth inning, when Trevor Cascia drew a lead-off walk and then stole second and third bases with no outs.
But Cascia was left stranded on third base as Rodriguez retired the next three Tiger hitters by way of the strike out.
Nick Gilardi paced the Tiger offense with two hits. Daniel McDonnell and Brazil each collected one single for Los Baños.
